Coasters are one of those things most people have, but nobody thinks about much. A handmade one changes that slightly; people notice them, pick them up, ask about them. I make these by hand, and there's a texture and weight to them that a machine-made coaster just doesn't have.

They do the job properly, thick enough to protect a surface, wide enough to actually catch drips — but they also look good doing it. A set makes a really easy housewarming or thank-you gift, and they're the kind of thing people use rather than put away in a cupboard.
