A bit about me

I’m Belle Fage, and I make every single piece at Blue Belle Charms by hand. I’m a self-employed performer by trade, which means creativity, colour, and making things that bring people joy have always been at the heart of how I live. Blue Belle Charms is a natural extension of that, just with a crochet hook instead of a spotlight!

How it all started

In 2022, I found myself with some unexpected spare time and decided to teach myself to crochet. I genuinely had no idea what I was getting into! What started as something to keep my hands busy quickly became something I was completely absorbed by. Within a fairly short space of time, I was making bags, jumpers, cardigans, and accessories for friends, family, and myself and loving every single minute of it.

There’s something really special about crocheting. It’s meditative in a way that very few things are. Once you find the rhythm of it, the rest of the world goes quiet. And then at the end, you have an actual thing. Something tangible, colourful, and made entirely by your own hands. I find that endlessly satisfying, and I don’t think that feeling has worn off once since I picked up my first hook.

Why Blue Belle Charms

By 2025, I’d been crocheting for a few years and the things I made had started getting a very particular kind of reaction from the people I gave them to. The kind where someone holds something up, really looks at it, and asks where they can get one. That kept happening, and eventually I decided to listen to it!

Blue Belle Charms started as a way to share the things I love making with people beyond my immediate circle. I wanted to build something that felt warm and personal rather than corporate and polished — because handmade things deserve to be sold by someone who genuinely loves making them. That’s what I’ve tried to do here, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way to it.

How I make everything

Every piece in the shop is crocheted by hand from start to finish. No machines, no shortcuts, and nothing goes out that I’m not genuinely happy with. I name every design individually, and you’ll notice all my pieces have their own names. This is because I think the things we make with care deserve a proper identity. It’s a small detail, but it matters to me.

I use Women’s Institute 100% acrylic yarn for everything, and that’s a deliberate choice rather than just whatever was available. The Women’s Institute yarn has a quality and consistency that I really trust, it holds its colour beautifully wash after wash, and because it’s 100% acrylic, it’s completely vegan-friendly with no wool, no animal fibres of any kind. That was something I felt strongly about, and I’m really pleased it’s something I can offer to everyone who shops here.

And then there’s Bodhi 🐾

No introduction to Blue Belle Charms would be complete without mentioning Bodhi. He’s my mini sheepadoodle, and he comes along to craft fairs as the shop’s very unofficial but very beloved mascot. If you’ve ever spotted a small, fluffy, quietly dignified dog at a craft stall near you, there’s a reasonable chance that was him.

Bodhi is the sweetest thing. He’s calm and gentle, a little shy when he first meets someone new, and completely devoted to cuddles once he’s decided he likes you, which doesn’t usually take very long. He has this lovely way of making everyone feel welcome the moment they come over to the stall, which I think is exactly the right energy for a handmade shop. He doesn’t crochet. I’ve tried. He’s not interested. But he sits beautifully next to a display of bookmarks, and I think that counts for quite a lot.

What you’ll find in the shop

The Blue Belle Charms collection has quite a range with handmade crochet bookmarks, book covers, car mirror charms, coasters, pouches, scrunchies, key charms, and bags. There’s a lot of love for readers in there (bookmarks and book covers are some of my absolute favourite things to make), but the shop is really for anyone who appreciates something handmade, colourful, and a little bit different. A lot of what I make works beautifully as a gift, and with prices starting from £5, there’s something here for every budget.

I’m also available for commissions if you’d like something in a specific colour or a design that isn’t currently in the shop. I genuinely love a commission, just get in touch and we’ll have a chat about it!
